Kosovo’s flamboyant manager Bernard Challandes says that his group is not scared of enjoying an England side he refers to as the”finest in world soccer”.
The 68-year-old Swiss coach delivered a press conference to remember on Sunday because he emphatically described his”crazy barbarous” style of drama that has witnessed Kosovo create an abrupt beginning in their European qualifying effort.
Challandes insisted he is aware of the scale of the challenge facing Kosovo, who have only been a footballing country for three decades, although there was no repeat of Sunday’s scenes when he addressed the press on Monday.
“We’re Kosovo and we are here against one of the best teams in the Earth, in my opinion the very best team on the planet,” he told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s struggle in Southampton.
“I believe it is within my own philosophy that when we don’t dream it is unnecessary to play such games, we need to dream and do everything that can be done to disturb England.
“I shall see tomorrow as with Kosovo we are a youthful federation, never have played such an opponent.
“For me as a coach it is not easy to have a fantastic mixture for the evaluation of this game.
“If I say’we come to win’, I feel a whole lot of individuals believe that is pretentious; should I state’it isn’t feasible to win England’, I have to alter my occupation.
“Never did we think after four games we play for the very first area here in England.
“It’s evident for me it will be a very, very hard game but it is a possibility for our very young team to show what’s really a very, very high level.”
Challandes conceded Kosovo will come up against some players although they line up against England at St Mary’s but says he does not mean to just attempt to defend.
Asked about the kind of Harry Kane – that struck a hat-trick at England’s win over Bulgaria on Saturday – Challandes said:”Harry Kane and (Raheem) Sterling and (Marcus) Rashford and, and, and, and, and…!
“For me personally it is a fantastic team but I have only this manner in my mind – I don’t wish to convey to my team,’OKwe stay in our own half and defend, defend, defend’ – I hope we could play and become an opponent, not a large competitor however an opponent with strength.”
