Believe it or not, there are only three matchups in Week two of this NFL season comprising 1-0 teams. With all due regard to Vikings-Packers and Chiefs-Raiders, no question that the marquee match is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game featuring the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams, now played in L.A.
Since the NFL could have changed eternally, Saints fans/backers will never forget that NFC title tilt. With the game tied the Saints had third-and-10 in the 13 . Drew Brees tried a pass near the sideline. Without question, a pass interference penalty was dedicated by Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman using a hit before the ball came. The officials missed it. Had that been called as it should possess, the Saints may run the clock down to the last seconds and have first-and-goal and attempt a chip-shot winning field goal from Wil Lutz, that never misses from that near.
The Saints had to kickstart a 31-yard field goal with 1:41 remaining and it abandoned the Rams lots of time to push the area and tie it on a 48-yard field goal from Greg Zeuerlein. Zeuerlein won it to a monster kick, and kudos, after intercepting Brees in overtime.
This pass interference non-call was so pessimistic that tutors can struggle PIwhen it’s NOT called. It is a trial for the time being.
Possible that these teams meet to the NFC title again this January with the Saints as +350 favorites to win the convention at Bovada along with the Rams moment at +500.
Both these teams had near wins but in kind in Week 1. Los Angeles prevailed 30-27 in a game which didn’t feel that close and has been a popular at Carolina. The Panthers never directed and were down by 13 points a few times. They scored with 1:58 left but never got the ball back.
Since Todd Gurley was not healthy, 1 reason was. He looked nice with the Panthers with 14 carries for 97 yards. However, it’s apparent the as Malcolm Brown had 11 Sean McVay wants to restrict his demeanor. Jared Goff was good at finishing 23 of 39 for 186 yards with a TD and a pick, but the Rams ran well enough to where they didn’t ask Goff to do much. Goff, incidentally, is 2-2 vs. the Saints in his profession. He’s thrown four interceptions and nine touchdown passes in those with a QBR of 60.
Injury-wise, Rams safety Eric Weddle is at the concussion protocol. He left vs. Carolina taking a frightful blow to the head out of Christian McCaffrey’s knee. Weddle’s mind was a wreck. Too early to tell if Weddle can play this one.
The Saints have been 30-28 winners since touchdown favorites within Houston in possibly the most entertaining match we might see all season Monday night at home. It had been the very first time in Monday Night Football more than once changed in the last minute of the quarter.
New Orleans was 14-3 at the half, but Brees had a large second half and when Lutz hit a field target for a 27-21 lead with 50 seconds 36, the match looked over. It required the Deshaun Watson every one of two plays to get a 28-27 lead of Houston, but the Texans abandoned much time to Brees. The Saints were also obtained by him and Lutz hit a career-best 58-yarder for the victory. Lutz has been named the Special Teams Player of the Week of the NFC.
Brees completed Michael Thomas had 10 catches for 123, also Alvin Kamara 169 yards from scrimmage. It had been Brees’ career game-winning drive in the fourth quarter/overtime, the second-most by any sin since the 1970 merger. It was New Orleans’ Week 1 win since 2013.
Brees threw for 391 yards and four scores. He’s 2-2 vs. Goff in his profession with 11 TDs and you pick great for a QBR of 76. Kamara had three touchdowns that Thomas 12 and Morning 9 game catches for 211 yards and a score.
Injury shrewd, Saints defensive linemen Sheldon Rankins and Mario Edwards Jr. equally missed Week 1 and David Onyemata was also suspended. Onyemata will play with the Rams. The other two aren’t likely.
The Rams have also a week to the Saints and two advantages . That is why we will proceed with L.A., but be certain you get the spread at -2.5 and not -3.
